Hello everyone and welcome to the new year! For January, the amount of monthly donations was $1075.00 and expenses totaled $1881.00. Thank you to everyone who contributed!
In January 2 dogs were adopted. Unfortunately no kitties found a home.
If you have any friends or relatives looking for a pet, please direct them to our site or have them contact us, as we have many ready for adoption.
Please consider fostering an animal if you are able to do so. We are in desperate need of temporary homes for the many animals that the community is alerting us to and are having a very difficult time keeping up. It is never our goal to turn away an animal in need, but we only have so many places to put these animals, and we need your help.
When you foster an animal with ARF, we take care of all food and medical expenses – we just need you to provide a loving and protective environment.
You are invited to our General Meeting
We also invite you to attend our next general meeting which will be held on January 16th if you are interested in volunteering. We have many areas that we need help in – here are a few:
Fosters, fosters, fosters! We need all the help we can get in this area. We do not have a shelter so we depend on those who can offer a loving and safe environment for our rescues.
People to transport animals to vet appointments – relocation to foster or forever homes.
Fundraising – we have a strong fundraising committee now, but always welcome more help and new ideas.
Administration – seeking someone who would be willing to take on the acquisition/foster placement and new home administration for all ARF animals. This basically involves establishing and maintaining a relationship with the ARF fosters, interviewing potential adopters to determine if their home is a good fit for the animal and follow up visits. This would also involve maintaining Excel spreadsheet related to this function.
Please contact us on email@example.com if you would like directions to the meeting place.
We will have our bingo event on Thursday, February 23rd at La Villa Café at the BCP. It starts at 1:00pm and goes until about 3:00pm. Bring all your friends! There are cash prizes, so the more people that attend the larger the win!
Feral cat feeding/trapping/release program update
The goal of this program is to identify feral cats, provide them with food, trap them and have them sterilized and released back into the wild to prevent further breeding.
In January there were 13 cats trapped and sterilized. We received a total of $75 in donations for January.
If you would like to make a donation towards this program, please note “cat trapping program” when making your donation on our site.
Looking for a home: The Dynamic Duos – we are looking for a home that will accept both dogs
Indy and Sasha
Indy (male Shepard) has a wonderful personality. He loves to play and has a lot of energy. He loves going on long walks and always returns to your side when you call his name. He enjoys playing with other dogs and had no issues with any free dogs that are roaming. Indy likes attention and affection. He likes to lean against you and put one paw on your foot to make sure you stay close by.
Sasha is also a wonderful dog. She is quite calm. She is very affectionate and loves being close to you and have you pet her. Sasha is also playful and she and Indy have a special bond since they have grown up together and have never been apart.
These two are best buddies and we would like to see them adopted together. They are approximately 4-5 years old and have been fixed. Ideally they are looking for a loving family with a large fenced in yard.
The previous owners have both passed away, and they are being looked after by a very nice family who would like to find a very good home for them.
Lady and Tramp
Lady (grey female) and Tramp (tan male) were found tied up, soaking wet in the rain with no shelter. They were owned by an old woman who had very little resources to take care of them and agreed to surrender them to us. She didn’t even have names for them, so we decided on Lady and Tramp for now. They are very sweet and gentle dogs that love attention, but would also make good guard dogs. We believe they are siblings. They love playing, sleeping and eating together. It would be best if we could find a home that would like to adopt both of them. They are approximately 2-3 years old, on the smaller side of medium.
Animal Law: We are providing information on the Animal Law 70 here in Panama in each monthly report until we feel we have covered the relevant information pertaining to domestic animals. Article 11 is especially important for all animal owners. Having a tag on your animal’s collar is essential in their return to you if they escape. Article 13 addresses fighting.
Owners of dogs and cats must be identified with tags or distinctive elements which includes the animal’s name and telephone number of the owner. If the animal is not identified in the indicated manner, the owner shall be subject to the provisions of Article 18.
Dog fighting, racing between animals and bullfights, whether Spanish or Portuguese style, these activities are prohibited. With the exception of cock fights, horse racing, equestrian sports, and other animal competitions will be regulated by special laws.
Until next month…….
